Southern Oregon is home to several celebrated American Viticultural Areas (AVAs), each with a distinct identity and climate:

Applegate Valley AVA

the Umpqua Valley Wineries

It is important to note that Umpqua Valley winemakers, as well as Umpqua Valley visitors, experience challenging topography. Due to the collision between three mountain ranges of varying ages and structures, the Klamath Mountains, the Coast Range, and the Cascades, this region is sometimes referred to as "the hundred valleys of the Umpqua."
